The face is forming and tiny nostrils will be present. The upper and lower jaws have formed. The nervous system is developing. The heart is fully formed. The bladder, kidney and voicebox have developed. The elbows, eyelids, teeth and nipples start to appear. The tissues that will form the bones of the spine are developing.
By week 8 pregnancy, the tip of your baby's nose has also formed and your baby's lungs start developing. The limbs are now well developed with fingers and toes present. Tiny movements are just discernible.
Less obvious is the increase in your blood volume but by the end of pregnancy, you'll have 45 to 50 per cent more blood running through your veins to meet the demands of your baby. You may notice some mild abdominal cramping that waxes and wanes during early pregnancy. Usually this is normal and nothing to be alarmed about.
